Mobile devices are a constant companion.  They are no longer just used for phone calls, texts and emails while away from home or the office, they are now being used everywhere for everything!  A traveler checks into her flight and downloads her boarding pass, a diabetic checks the carb count of his lunch before dosing with insulin, the Marketing Manager tweets about a new product launch that’s coming, a parent tells Alexa to start the crock-pot for dinner, and an employee Snapchats an inappropriate photo to his friends from the office.  Is anyone actually working?

How do we as employers manage the risks that arise from allowing and not allowing mobile devices in the workplace?  How do we manage the challenges with non-exempt employees getting email on their mobile devices and the risks involved with Wage & Hour laws?  What’s discoverable vs. what isn’t when you are using a personal device but accessing company information?  What can employers/HR do and what can’t they do to protect their information. On the flip side, what can an employee do or not do to protect their privacy? What does HR need to know to avoid risk on both sides?  Join us as Tim Davis helps us navigate our way through the general legal pitfalls that employers are seeing in the workplace as it relates to mobile devices in the workplace today and provides practical tips on what you can do to best protect yourself and your company.
