Design thinking...learn how Hallmark is using it as a tool to rethink how HR designs and delivers integrated, employee experiences. HR is leveraging the experience of marketing and product development who work similarly to design integrated customer experiences. From these outcomes, along with external best practices, they have begun a journey to align their employment brand and employee experiences. Fay will share with you their journey to date -- where we've been, where we're going, what we've learned!


Fay Balk is the Human Resources Director - Organization Effectiveness and Development at Hallmark Cards, the world’s largest manufacturer and retailer of greeting cards and related social expression products. During her 25 year tenure with the company, Ms. Balk had held positions of increasing responsibility in human resources including organization design and change management consulting, leadership development, workforce planning and hr management positions.  Currently she leads the organization effectiveness and development center of excellence which includes responsibility for strategic alignment, organization design, change management, culture, talent management, corporate-wide learning and development initiatives and workforce planning and analytics.  She also is temporarily looking after the Corporate Strategy and Business Development group.  Ms. Balk holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University.


This program has been submitted for 1.0 hour of SHRM CP/SCP professional development credit through SHRM ( and will qualify for Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) recertification credit.
