UNCOVERING
The Effects of Uncovering Authenticity in the Workplace

Dionne M. King, CEO and Strategic Consultant
DMK Consulting, LLC

March 12, 2019 | 11:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m

This riveting session discusses why leaders mute their authentic selves to gain acceptance and advancement in their professions. This universal dynamic is termed ‘covering’ and plagues businesses more than we know. Using quantifiable studies produced by the industry’s leading experts, we uncover also how individuals with stigmatized identities are left out of the inclusion paradigm and how covering effects productivity, retention and well-intended inclusion efforts in organizations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

·       Identify the effects of covering

·       Assess the needs and opportunities for groups most plagued by covering and stigmas

·       Gain tools for cultivating a more inclusive environment
